Diving is something I hope to never give up. I look forward to diving even in my 60's as long as its a boat dive. I found this book to be a quick read and indispensible when you want to explore or revisit diving concepts. I believe anyone considering a sport diving certification should also read it in order to gain a realistic understanding of the dive adventures that await her. I'm compelled to load up the dive gear, grab my dive buddy by the hair (if only he had some) and drag him to the nearest body of water. At last, a practical SCUBA how-to book that makes sense to the average diver and is fun to read. A real confidence builder. Coleman thoroughly reviews the important basics as well as includes information from real life experiences that can change a mediocre into a memorable one . It's like sitting oceanside with an expert diver and having most dive related questions you can think of answered in simplistic and understandable terms. Although this book is mostly geared toward the a diver with a certification.

This is a very practical overview of diving. Quickly readable and clearly gets points made in a nicely organized fashion. Well done and well worth the money for the new diver or the old diver getting back in the water.

I really like this book and have a feeling I will take it on a lot of dive trips. It provides great information on anything from actual diving to buying gear and gear tips, how to plan dive trips, marine animals, and much more. It's a great collection of information every newly certified diver should read. The only thing that's too bad is that there is no Kindle version of this book, which would make it much easier to bring it with you on trips.

Good book. I read it and decided right away that diving was not for me. It saved me a lot of money

This handbook is delightfully written by a diver who is both savvy and informative. It's an easy read. He give's helpful tips on equipment, tips on where, when, who.... great money-saving tips. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have! It's already helped us to make some good decisions on buying certain types of gear! worth every penny.

I purchased this book as an adjunct to getting back into diving. While the book is nicely formatted with plenty of pictures, the depth of information was poor. This was not worth my investment of time and money.

THIS BOOK IS A VERY GOOD ONE IT COVER'S EVERY THING CONCERNS SCUBA DIVING BUT UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT DISCUSSED AS IT SHOULD BE.

It is interesting how people can write a review this book 3 years prior to it being published. I guess these reviews refer to the fist edition published in July 94.

A great reference for learning how to manage the water in your pool.

Although I found the book to be somewhat outdated, it is clear and consise and easy to read. I am not a pool "expert" as some of the reviewers are, I am new to the pool business and in that regard i found it very helpful.Remember, this is a refence book published a while ago and pool "standards" continue to change.

I've been in the pool biz for twenty five years and this is the only pool related book I've read that didn't put me to sleep. It's clear,concise, and very understandable for people at ALL levels.The pool business is a tough, comprehensive subject and Tom Griffith has done a masterful job at tackling all the issues.

We found excellent information about Swimming pool design and various topics related about maintaining the pool.
