Scuba Lights
Night diving is a type of recreational diving which takes place in darkness. The diver may see more and has a different underwater experience at night because many marine animals are nocturnal and the diver is forced to concentrate on smaller, nearby objects.
There are additional hazards when diving in darkness, such as torch or flashlight failure resulting in losing vertical visual references and being unable to control depth or buoyancy, being unable to read instruments such as dive computers and diving cylinder contents gauges and separation from the rest of the diving group, boat or shore cover.
Normal precautions for night diving are to have a torch/flashlight, to use a strobe light, to avoid shining your light in other divers' eyes, to know and use surface light signals and to use a surface marker buoy with an attached strobe or cyalume stick.

100 Meter Dive Light Scuba Waterproof Flashlight 14 18k MCD LED ABS Body, 7208Reviewsgreat fun in the pool for a dad and kids at night in the pool! waterproof and doesn't drain the batteries too quickly. i don't know about the ocean-worthiness, but for what i bought 2 of them for, they're perfect! I have tested this flashlight in my last visit to the Florida Keys where I planned to snorkeling at night. This flashlight is very well built, real waterproof but unfortunately it is not good for snorkeling where the bottom of the sea is over 10 ft. deep. The focus is very wide and does not reach the bottom of the sea as it should, reaching the sea bottom in a very weak way. If you plan to use it for scuba or snorkeling at night I should not recommend this flashlight. Bright, durable, does not seem to drain batteries too fast and most of all: waterproof ;-) Quick shipment absolutely no problems!!!! This is a very bright light that we use on the boat. We haven't deliberately tested it for waterproofness if there is such a word. As with most waterproof flashlights, it takes two hands to turn it on by twisting the case. If I could turn it on with one hand, I would have given it five stars. Average Rating:![]() |

This 11 LED flashlight is water tight and capable of depths up to 100 meters. It is made out of strong AABS plastic so it won't break. The LED's are each 18,000 MCD, which produces a great light even in the water... |

Dorcy 41-1467 6AAA-Battery 180-Lumen LED Super Flux Dive LightReviewsTook this light on several Cozumel dives (50-80'). No problems with failures. However, as received, the threads were dirty, and the O-ring seal area was also "mungy". Before first use, thoroughly cleaned these areas and applied thin coat of silicone grease. Absolutely no problems with leakage or corrosion on whole trip. This light is very bright for smaller flashlight, and could be OK for a primary. It compares very well with a larger 8 AA Xenon-bulb light. The original strap lookes flimsy, but is adequate. My criteria for a technical back up light was brightness, burn longevity, heavy duty all aluminum or resin construction, twist on/off, butt end snap attachment. I purchased two of these lights. They attach to the shoulder d-ring on my dive harness shoulder strap and hang downwards where they are secured in place with bike tubing (you will hear this described as a tech or hogarthian configuration, but any it just gets them out of the way but easy to reach). I found these lights to be manufacturer packaged poorly on receipt but their rugged design really prevented any damage. Amazon packed the light in a brown box with an airbag in it. I think this was fine. The output of the beam is well focused for a night diving backup light, it appears to be much brighter than many of the other smaller handheld underwater lights that are available and the burn time as noted is 3+ hours which is very impressive. You get a bluish light that is very good to dive with. The twist on feature is excellent for my configuration of diving. I use a thin rubber dryglove and then polartec undergloves. I can easily grip the aluminum bezel and turn the light on and off with one hand, leaving it clipped to the shoulder straps. My gloves are off the shelf rubber Marigold gloves, and very grippy. I could see thick neoprene gloves or mitts having a bit of a tough time with the smooth surface of the bezel. The butt end is drilled out for a lanyard. I threaded some line from my spool through the hole and secured a stainless snaphook to the end. The holes are offset in the butt end, which is a very minor negative if you attach a snaphook. I have about 20 dives on these lights down to 135 feet with absolutely no issues. In my opinion they meet my criteria and exceed it. So would I recommend this light to another diver? Yes! Would I buy this light again? Absolutely. It CLEARLY is comparable to lights that you see for sale in the $65 to $125 range. I purchased this light as a backup and I was very impressed with it! I have taken it down to 120 feet with no issues and it provided a bright spot with a sufficient amount of spill light. Dorcy has responded quickly to my questions and upon further research, I have found a lot of good experiences with their customer service. The LED isn't regulated, meaning that it starts out at a peak of 180 lumens and slowly loses brightness as the batteries drain - as opposed to a regulated LED that would burn at maximum intensity for a set amount of time (ie 3-4 hours) and then drop off sharply in intensity. I found almost no difference in brightness after 3 hours in a test I did at home, so I don't see this as being a negative. It seems to be sturdily built so I'm hoping this will last for the long haul. Overall, probably the best value in dive lights right now. I have used this light in Cozumel drift during night dives, cenotes of the yucatan cave diving, northeast wreck diving off the Jersey shore, and in the St Lawrence seaway. I bought it to use as a backup light during scuba and when my DiveRite 10 watt HID failed in the cenotes (caves) I took this out and finished my dive with it. I actually carry two of these. I have owned greenforce, halcyon, diverite, princeton tech, salvo, and oxycheq lights as my 2nd primary and back-up lights and this light very literally drowns the others out. In a side by side comparison or even on paper, 180 lumens from this dorcy, the metal housing with dual o-rings, the 6 AAA ease of operation, and the tiny pricetag (you can buy two of these for the price of one of the others) this light is simply impossible to beat (currently). Only 1 negative. The holes that are cut into the base have not been finished in a smooth manner and the 90 degree angle can be quite sharp if you are tying on a bolt snap. There are two easy options to surpass this issue. You can use a SS split ring to attach your bolt snap or smooth out the edge with a hi-speed rotary tool (dremel). A more challenging option is to have the bolt snap welded to the light (although the light housing is aluminum whereas your bolt snap is SS). Average Rating:![]() |

Underwater Kinetics Mini Q40 Xenon FlashlightReviewsSeveral friends have LED lights by this manufacturer and all are very pleased. I decided to get one and I am too in the short time I have had it. When attached to the mask, it is very uncomfortable; it is actually painful because on the pressure applied to the ear. I have not yet tried under water; it is possible that water would leak inside the mask because of the flashlight position. The flashlight sent to me has a very different strap, not the one shown in the picture; this may be dishonesty or sloppiness. I expected more from such an expensive flashlight. I have been using this flashlight for years because the light is very bright and adjustable between wide-angle and focused. It also easily attaches to a swim-mask or, for land use, a headband, for hands-free use. The bulb has a long life, but unfortunately is not replaceable, so when it goes, one needs to replace the whole flashlight. Still I can't complain given I got about 20 years of use (not day to day, obviously) from my last one. This is a very light weight very bright flashlight. It is just over 6 inches long. It takes two AA batteries. It has a wrist strap so you can avoid dropping it, and it is waterproof. You can't turn it on with one hand because it switches on by turning the front as many waterproof flashlights do. Update. I stand corrected. It has 4 AA batteries. This is a great flashlight for use on a boat or near the water. Very bright and usedful to see in tight places. Very small in size and easily tucked in a travel pouch. Average Rating:![]() |

DIGITAL LUGGAGE SCALE Portable Light Weight Scales Postal Weigher NEW [Misc.ReviewsI used this product in my recent trip to India. Worked great. Very easy to use and carry. The scale does not work at all. 1-) Resets improperly, you have to do it several times. 2-) When you get the reset, the bipppp that sounds telling you that the measure is ok, works 1 time of 5. 3-) You get tire waiting, hanging the luggage. 4-) Definitively I DO NOT RECOMEND THE PRODUCT. 5-) The seller is excelent, congratulations but the product is a calamity. I purchased this item a year ago and now I got a second one for a visiting relative. The scale is very accurate, displays weight in Kg/Lb. No surprise at the airport. Must have if you travel frequently and don't want to pay extra fees. Works Great everytime. Love going to the airport knowing I am SAFE! Delivered immediately. The item was not abused and just stopped working within a month. I would not buy this brand. Average Rating:![]() |

Pelican 1560 Case w/Foam (Black)ReviewsI got this case to pack my photography gear in while flying. I fit two full size DSLRs, a 500mm F4L, 580EX flash, 70-200mm F2.8L, batteries, cards, etc. Everything is custom fit via the pick and pluck foam. Although not officially a carry-on size, it does fit in overhead bins and every time I've traveled I've had no issue carrying this on board. The built-in roller wheels added a lot of ease for navigating the airport. Highly recommend. These cases are simply the best for heavy duty use. The piece was exactly what I expected, delivered on time and in good shape. What can I say about Pelican Cases that hasn't already been said? This case will hold two dSLR cameras, three lenses, a flash unit, teleconverter, and filters. All Pelican cases offer good protection for electronic equipment. The build quality is very good. The hard plastic shell seems to be very sturdy and solid. The two layers of foam were easy to configure how I wanted them without using any tools. It is easy to wheel around using the pull-out handle, though it worries me how much the hard plastic wheels bump around on concrete. I assume that the foam dampens the vibration enough for somewhat vibration-sensitive equipment. Average Rating:![]() |

Pelican 1610 Case w/Foam (Black)ReviewsI had been through the bag routine, my wife always wondered why I was so obsessed with ordering camera bags. I could *NEVER* find one that was just right for what I needed. I almost ordered the 151x model which would've ended up being too small for my needs. I ended up with the 1610 which is actually the 1614 since I have the model with the dividers. I am glad that I went with the larger sized model, and I don't foresee the need to take this as a carry on. Definitely go with the model that has the dividers, unless you are after the utmost of protection and don't expect to change the configuration around. In researching many people suggested using some adhesive for the foam pieces to help hold them in place. Others also complained of how the wheel support system was built into the case and you had to build padding around it which took away precious space. With the dividers, if I need to make a configuration change, it is as simple as moving the velcro attached dividers. I only realistically have two slots left in the case, and at this point I can't carry my flash bracket or Rayflash in the Pelican as I'm out of space for those longer items. The lid top organizer Pelican - Lid organizer - ballistic nylon will assist you in making the best use of space possible in the case. Initially I was concerned taking out the foam padding protecting the gear from being crushed by pressure on the top. This proved to be totally unfounded. I use the case as a table, seat, or step stool, and it doesn't flex in the least bit. I've seen videos of a loaded case being driven over by a pickup truck and it didn't flex in the least bit! I use my lid organizer to carry all of my batteries, additional memory cards, contracts, pens, business cards, cleaning materials, bride rescue pack, and another highly recommended item, a Pelican Desiccant pack #1500D Pelican Peli Desiccant Silica Gel. I'm quite shocked at how much moisture exists, and I've really only owned this since winter, and haven't been through a humid summer yet! Those people that just throw the little bags from shoe boxes in, aren't doing anything for their gear!!! The wheels work exceptionally well. Last weekend I shot a wedding at a Bed and Breakfast, the service was across a large field. A day after a prolonged rainstorm I had no issues rolling the case across the grassy field. The ladies' heels all sunk into the field though! Four latches around the case ensure a tight locking seal. So good that you can't even latch them if something as small as a single strand of your camera strap is protruding. This is probably by design so that the waterproofing isn't impacted. The multiple lock points have proven useful. I picked up a 6' bike cable Avenir Tightrope Cables (6mm / 6 feet) and use a lettered Master lock Master Lock 1534D Password Plus Combo Lock in Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red or Silver (Colors Vary), 1-Pack so that I can lock the case to a solid object when shooting weddings, or on site. After hearing of cards disappearing from the gift table (from people you know?!) I wanted the extra security. The only con I guess would be weight. My case loaded is pushing 65 pounds. Not enough to take a star off of the rating though. I love having a bulletproof case, and it even floats loaded with all of that gear. If there's a better case than Pelican, I haven't found one! I purchased the 1610 to protect my expensive Canon camera and lenses from the elements and rigors of trail riding the rugged Alaskan terrain with my Polaris Ranger 6x6. Now, I don't worry about bouncing around on rocky trails, crossing swift rivers, following friends through clouds of dust, or getting caught in downpours and snow storms. These cases are nearly indestructible and completely sealed from the elements. I'd recommend Pelican cases to anyone who needs to protect valuable items from physical and/or environmental damage! At first glance, Pelican cases seem expensive. But, when I realize that the price is less than 2% of what it would cost to replace my camera equipment, I'd say it's pretty cheap insurance, especially considering the quality! The Pelican 1610 case is very durable and for our companys use it gave a professional look. We turned out to really need the Wheels feature. Highly recommend! Bought this case to haul around a bunch of gear for work, and it's awesome! The foam is scored into deep squares so you can pull out the squares you need to make sure whatever you're hauling has a snug fit. I recommend placing your object(s) on the foam, and using toothpicks to "draw" the outline. My only complaint with the case is that over time, the squares have a tendency to tear at the scores with heavy use. I've been meaning to buy some brush-on adhesive and give all the foam a good coating of it, to see if this solves the problem. It's only for this reason that the case doesn't get 5 stars. Pelican 1610 Black Case with Foam Every Pelican case I have bought has been excellent. Very durable and functional and ideal for protecting your goods when traveling. Average Rating:![]() |

In Over Her HeadReviewsMy second favorite story in this Judi Fennell trilogy has Marina owner Erica Peck plans to give her father his burial at sea interrupted when the man who rented her boat wants the stolen diamonds that went over board. Like a reverse tale of THE LITTLE MERMAID we have a price of Atlantis rescues the girl from drowning but instead of getting her to shore his breath of life has turned her into a water breather. Told that she may never go home again she is put under the care of Reel Tritone who finds his family adorable. Trying to protect the diamonds from a human thief is at lot easier than trying to save them from the mother of all monsters. Its a madcap mission of humor and adventure that can only bring true love out of a couple who act like they hate each other. It really wasn't that long ago that I read the opening scene from Judi Fennell's novel, In Over Her Head, in a Gather writing competition. It was good. Part of me wondered how mermen and romance would sell, but I was definitely "hooked." And romantic mermen clearly sell just fine as I've seen In Over Her Head well-displayed in our local bookstore. I felt that warm glow of "Hey, I sort of know that author," as I walked past. And now I've read the book. (Yes Judi, I know I was going to save it till Christmas, but I couldn't wait.) I wonder what Judi would be like if I met her. She looks nice in her picture. I think we'd laugh a lot. Certainly her writing has me smiling and giggling at crazy puns and furious, zany conversation. Weird situations, madcap characters and simply delightful asides drive the story forwards. And when Reel (a Mer) asks Erica (human) about magic it's almost a surprise to see how many impossibilities have somehow become real. (Reel, like his name?) Of course, the fact that Erica hates the water is a bit of a problem as romance presses its cause (and Reel presses other bits). Circumstances consistently drive the couple apart at the most inopportune moments. But eventually they find themselves alone. And then... well, that's the bit I'll probably have to censor if my Mum asks to read the book. It's nicely written, definitely enticing, but still... Afterwards there's more delightful interplay of characters and a truly satisfying conclusion. Bad guys get what they deserve and good guys... well, you'll just have to read it to find out. It's a fun and magical tale, and maybe I'll manage to wait till Christmas to read Wild Blue Under. I laughed and chuckled the whole way through this fun book. For a change of pace romantic find, grab a copy and sit back and enjoy. "Reel" is a hunk who is delightful. An unfortunate encounter with her ex leaves Erica dying in the ocean, but she finds herself rescued by Reel Tritone, the black sheep son of the Mer King. He changes her into a mer to save her life. When she awakens she thinks she's in her own kind of hell, because suddenly she can converse with the fish and breathe under water. From this moment on a whole new life starts for her, but what she doesn't know, is that her life is still in danger, because the mer aren't allowed to change humans and the Oceanic council isn't happy about it. Reel and Erica are sent on a mission, one that might be deadly. Will they find a way for a happy future? IN OVER HER HEAD is a wonderful and captivating under water adventure, which will keep you glued to the pages. I was really sad when I reached the last page, because I didn't want the story to end. Ms Fennell takes her readers on an emotional rollercoaster ride. If you like tortured heroes you will fall in love with Reel, he is the black sheep of his family because he's a mer without fins. For his whole life he's felt more like an outsider and not loved, it is only when he meets Erica he finds a reason for his life. I can only congratulate Ms. Fennell for the idea to create this wonderful series in the undersea world. If you liked Disney's Little Mermaid, you will love this book. She is definitely a fast rising star in the world of romance and for me she is the new romance author of 2009. Also keep an eye out for the upcoming Mer books WILD BLUE UNDER (November 2009) and CATCH OF A LIFETIME (February 2010). Courtesy of Loveromances and More! When I first picked up this book I wasn't too sure I was gonna like. But I really loved it. It was a fast page turner that I couldn't put down. If you enjoy reading about fantasy creatures you'll enjoy this one. Some of the underwater creatures remind me of the characters in The Little Mermaid, which I love. But this book is very much for adults. In Over Her Head was a wonderful surprise of adventure, wonderment and steamy fun. I highly recommend In Over Her Head. It'll definitely be on my Top 20 at the end of the year. Average Rating:![]() |

PELICAN MICRO CASE 1060 BLACK/CLEARReviewsThis is a well-made, sturdy and attractive box. It suits one of my purposes perfectly, opens and closes the way it should, etc. -- but I am still disappointed that it is not submersible. The only other comparable and truly submersible box that I've found on Amazon unfortunately has opening tab(s) that can go flying when you open it. These two should meet, mate and produce the perfect box even if it costs a tad more. Lots of other well-deserved 5-star reviews so I won't elaborate. I use this for kayaking by clipping the case to my spray skirt loop. The perfect fit keeps my camera from banging around and it floats if it ever does fall in. I keep a small piece of microfiber towel in with it so I can wipe off drips (my hands are usually wet). I used this case to keep my phone & camera in while rafting down Kenai River. It worked exactly as it's supposed to. Everything inside was dry as could be. Everything outside was totally drenched. Lightweight, sturdy (it got banged around on the raft & in the airport quite a bit), definitely works well! Perfect to keep my Blackberry Pearl in with my wallet while kayaking. It looks like it would also fit other size BBs and iphones. Well designed and solid; reasonable price. View access is good. Total water proof 10' would be even better Average Rating:![]() |

Princeton Tec Eos Bike LED HeadlightReviewsI'll chime in with the rest of the five star reviews. Just came back from the best night-time kickbike rideRed Sport Classic Kickbike I've had in a long time. This little wonder throws a lot of light--even on the medium setting. I was able to ride through the darkest passages of the bikepath with utter abandon. I used the elastic head strap mount on my helmet (with a blinkie on the back) and this arrangement worked perfectly. The beam is even, with no excessive hot-spots. The rapid Amazon turnaround time was the icing on the cake. I plan to use this light a lot, which says a lot about its value. I got the Princeton Tec Eos Bike LED Headlight as a backup bike light. It is weightless so I can put it in my pocket. It has durability and seems strong. POWER 70 Lumens BATTERIES 3 AAA Alkaline or Lithium WEIGHT 105 Grams I ordered this to use on my bicycle on the Dupage county Illinois prairie path at night. The path is very dark in many places and is not lit at night except for street crossings. With this light I was able to spot a deer, a raccoon, and two cats long before I came into contact with them on the high setting. After a 25 mile ride in the dark the mount did not budge. I used Sanyo Eneloop lithium ion rechargeable batteries and on high I never saw a note-able difference in lighting. I had a few cars stop for me at road crossings so I know I was extremely visible with this light. It lights up things from a distance and has enough falloff on the sides to cover my peripheral vision in front of me. I use this light on my handle bars and a small 1 LED light on my helmet for reading signs close up or to see where I want to look. I dropped it once or twice while installing so I know it is durable. I would definitely recommend this light to friends or family as a night time riding light. Wow, what can I say? When this headlight came in the mail, I was really excited. You all know how amazon shopping is: You research your options ad nauseam, until you've found the perfect one. Then you get all excited because you've sort of married yourself to it. Well, that happened with this, and believe me, I want no divorce. You can't tell how bright it is during the day, but at night, it's really amazing. Maybe I've just been deprived of high-quality bike lights, but I was stunned at the brightness of this. My previous Blackburn Quadrant headlight is a joke compared to this "Princeton Tec Eos Bike Maxbright Rebel LED Headlight". It's made from quality materials, and comes with three different mounting options: You can wear it around your head with the included quality head strap, you can attach it to a helmet with an included Velcro strap, and you can mount in on your bike. They all work well. At night, it projects a very wide yet far-reaching cone of intense light ahead of you. I've gotten a strong reflection off of car reflectors over two blocks away. The high, medium, low, and blinking setting options are nice. I like the fact that the blinking mode uses the same level of brightness as the high mode. You'll really get the attention of any oncoming traffic. If you wear it on your head or helmet, you almost look like a moving lighthouse or prison control tower! You can literally see the beam of light! In regard to some of the arguments about whether this light is made to be seen or to see, I honestly think you can see very well with this--not to even mention be seen. Obviously it's not one of those $500+ headlight systems that are meant to light up the road just as a car's headlamps do, but compared to my previous one (which was considered one of the better headlamps at the time), it does the job beautifully--especially if you're an urban rider. On top of all this, it's tiny! You'd never expect such brightness to come from one little LED! When you're approaching a stop or warning sign, the sign flashes with such intensity it almost seems as though the sign itself it backlit. Oh, and it looks awesome, don't you think? Unconventionally cool - a rebel indeed! Anyway, I can't stop raving about this light. You can probably tell I'm a little obsessed (I still bring it with me from room to room =D ). Listen to all of the reviews. If I could have given it 6 stars, I would have. Get the last one before it goes out of stock! EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use this light mounted on my helmet, in addition to a light mounted on my handlebar. A handlebar light is important (and required by law in many communities for night riding), but it only points in the direction that your bike is heading. When approaching an intersection, you can't be sure that cross traffic will necessarily see your handlebar-mounted light, and a car's headlights may wash it out. With a second light mounted on your helmet, you can direct that light toward wherever you're looking. The bike is going straight, but you can turn your head to aim the light right at anyone or anything on your sides. The Princeton Tec EOS BIKE works great in this capacity. It comes with a few different mounts so you can choose whichever one works best for you; I use the velcro strap run through the air vents on my helmet along with the plastic bracket. The light itself is very bright. At its highest setting, it lights up street signs from half a block away. I have not ridden in total darkness with this light or had to use it to illuminate where I'm going, as my night riding is on well-lit Chicago streets. But I am confident that it gives me an extra level of safety by making me more visible to traffic. The button to turn on the light is recessed a bit and has a rubberized cover. It's easy to turn on (unless I'm wearing my thick winter gloves), but seems like it would never turn on accidentally when stowed in a bag. The light has four settings - high/medium/low/flash - and you access your preferred setting with repeated pushes of the power button: one press for high, two for medium, and so on. One thing I like is that after the light has been running for a short while, it only takes one push of the button to shut it off no matter which mode you're in. Let's say you're riding with the light set to medium (which is accessed by two button presses when you turn on). When you finish your ride and turn the light off, just one button press shuts it off - you don't have to cycle through low and then flash modes to get to off. It's not a huge thing, of course, but it's a pretty smart feature which I appreciate in a moderately priced light. I've used this light for several months now, and the only issue was when I dropped my helmet and broke the mount. Totally my fault.
